Health Care Quality Won’t Change Unless….
Posted by admin on Aug 9, 2009
Issues abound about health care quality in the US. A recent report about unequal quality of care for blacks in nursing homes adds an unfortunate dimension to the health care debate. While many believe universal health care is the answer including “Sicko” director Michael Moore and Senator Hillary Clinton, presidential candidate Mayor Rudy Giuliani and conservative opinion leaders like Bill O’Reilly disagree. United States taxpayers are eager to see how Congress, President Bush, and presidential hopefuls will address health care reform in the future. Other health care proposals include Presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama’s combination national and purchased health plan that is portable, a joint employer/government subsidized system like John Edwards’, a market-based system like Mitt Romney’s, a prevention focused plan like Mike Huckabee, and an alternative health care affordability plan to be revealed by John McCain. While presidential candidates, congress, political pundits, and opinion leaders have an important voice in the health care debate, the consumer voice is the most powerful when raised with knowledge and informed advocacy. Both the government mandated and market-based plans require sound consumer knowledge to ensure quality of care. Pope Institute for Health and Education. http://www.PopeInstitute.com
