I, like many Reiki …
I, like many Reiki practitioners, am not one of those, but as long as you keep bringing the discussion back to that minority, and insisting on only believing things that other people tell you are ’scientifically proven’, then we will keep batting this back and forth for eternity. Just go have a treatment, then post a comment.

“Belief works like …
“Belief works like this…” then you just go on and describe yourself.
I’m employed in 2 NHS hospitals to treat patients using Reiki. The results, logged in patient notes and discussed with NHS licensed doctors, speak for themselves.
I’m not persuading patients to throw away their medication or “risk their lives” and anyone who does is a ’snake oil salesman’.

It’s not about what …
It’s not about what others say
Science works like this
1 Start with a disprovable hypothesis
2 do an experiment
3 if the hypothesis is contradicted reject the hypothesis

Where are the randomised control tests showing Reiki works? I can find none
Belief works like this:
1 Close your mind to what you can observe
2 become dogmatic that you are right

If you are prepared to (potentially) risk your life for what you believe, then that is your right. It is not your right to encourage others to do it

Reiki should be …
Reiki should be used however the person wishes. If they don’t want Western medicine, then that’s their choice. The patient knows what’s best for their body.

I also just noticed …
I also just noticed a comment from someone who has a bachelors in radiation physics. “I never learned about this type of ‘energy’.” That because this is an “energy,” for a lack of better word, that is physical/spiritual in nature… Not material per se.

One thing to …
One thing to realize with Reiki… It is NOT a replacement for Western Medicine nor should it be treated as such. Reiki should be used in conjunction with standard medicine. Also, Reiki can be used along with other measures for disease prevention. To use a Cliche, don’t throw the baby out with the bath water. That goes for both Reiki and Standard medicine. That being said, if you have never experienced Reiki, do so. It is a wonderful experience and may help alleviate some of the skepticism.

Snake oil salesmen …
Snake oil salesmen anger me too, but just like there are honest lawyers and dishonest one’s, that is dependant on the person and not the profession.
If right now you are only willing to believe in what other people tell you can be ‘proven’ by their methods, and what you can see and touch, rather than what you can feel and observe for yourself, then OK. But your life will never be your own, as it and your beliefs will always be dictated by what someone else tells you is true.

Snake oil salesmen …
Snake oil salesmen anger me. The offer false hope to those in pain. Is that clue enough?

Yes *adjunct*, if …
Yes *adjunct*, if it were to *replace* a treatment I would give it credence.
Given the choice between 8 weeks of side effect free injections of my own cloned immune cells, followed by complete remission (yes, that cancer cure) and Reiki… hey I guess I’d choose the Reiki, after all I am an idiot

To meatistasty: …
To meatistasty: Then you would be surprised to know that Reiki is one of the fasting growing adjunct treatments in hospitals.

I say again. Just …
I say again. Just have a read through all of the responses of the people who are against Reiki, and see how angry, insulting and arrogant they come across. You don’t get any of that in the pro-Reiki people. Doesn’t that give you a clue?

Hahaha… hands on …
Hahaha… hands on head; what a joke. I have a bachelors in radiation physics and I never learned about this type of “energy”. She says she does it for her cat and plants?? It heals cancer and HIV??? Its amazing how people manage to pull this crap off. Being stupid must be expensive.

western ‘medicine’ …
western ‘medicine’ hasn’t cured any cancer and hasn’t cured anything since the Salk polio vaccine. there is too much money to be made treating symptoms. the best they can do is sell you a pill, usually a pill with risky side effects, that may or may not work.

Yeah, it is thinly …
Yeah, it is thinly disguised prostitution

October 20th, 2008 | 2:57 pm
meatistasty:

Yes, they would …
Yes, they would discount it because it is hogwash :)
western ‘medicine’ just cured skin cancer, maybe immunotherapy will hep put you out of business :)

October 20th, 2008 | 2:57 pm
maryquant1967:

if you believe this …
if you believe this, you are naive to the way western “medicine” operates….”If it worked then medical journals would be full of articles reporting a cure, where are these?”…in fact, medical journals would discount it.

Be warned! Only really pretty women can get away with passing this bs off. If you’re ugly, Reiki, Quantum Touch, Magnetic Feng Shui and all the other shams are not a career for you.
