Diego’s mother writes:
I had Diego’s IEP today and was really suprised about his progress. When I initially entered the IEP, my gut feeling was to move Diego to a Special Education Center because I felt like Diego was not making enough progress in a General Education setting. As the team read their reports I heard words like: progressing, “catching on” and “getting it”. Hearing these words coming from the team members was what I was waiting to hear for years. The team was a little puzzled about Diego’s progress and stated that maybe Diego is just “catching on”. The team was also very excited because Diego is responding and focusing more on the speaker when his name is called from afar. Although, Diego’s progress is slow, the team is excited because he is showing a lot more progress than the previous years and feel that he should not attend a Special Education Center.

Spice FM Paula Esson NIHP Part2

Posted by admin on Sep 9, 2009

I have been working intensely with the Bowen Technique for 6 years now and the excitement and enthusiasm for the work never dims. There is so much to learn and understand that each day is a whole new life!! The clinic at Claypath has been in place for 4 years.

The Doctors of the centre and the surrounding physiotherapists recognise the importance of the Bowen Technique and how it can ist many people on the road to recovery when conventional methods have either been exhausted or are unsuitable. The clinic has gone from strength to strength and as the work gains more popularity across the board, more people are training. I have my work cut out travelling all over the country and now Europe teaching therapists, Doctors and physiotherapists and people who want to enjoy a complete change of career.
The Bowen Technique is unique in so many ways, especially with its hands on hands off approach which takes some getting used to !! It is essential to understand that the body has the answers first and the Doctors second in many cases. A prompt in the right place on the body can set up a cascading domino affect through the

bodys systems and ask the body to look at its problems and address them. So many times I have heard clients talk about muscles relaxing and pain diminishing, even when I am not in the room.

The work is a constant conceptual challenge which forces you to keep asking questions to find the answers to how the body copes with illness and dysfunction.

Claypath runs mostly by word of mouth, happy people make for many referrals. 80% of clients are very satisfied with the reduction, removal or management of their symptoms. It is a joy to watch people return to sport or work, delay or stop forever an operation because the symptoms are not there anymore. Satisfying to see people cope better with the stresses of Western society and all that it demands.

“Michael Pollan – In Defense of Food” part 1 of 4

Posted by admin on Aug 18, 2009

Food. There’s plenty of it around, and we all love to eat it. So why should anyone need to defend it?

Because most of what we’re consuming today is not food, and how we’re consuming it — in the car, in front of the TV, and increasingly alone — is not really eating. Instead of food, we’re consuming “edible foodlike substances” — no longer the products of nature but of food science. Many of them come packaged with health claims that should be our first clue they are anything but healthy. In the so-called Western diet, food has been replaced by nutrients, and common sense by confusion. The result is what Michael Pollan calls the American paradox: The more we worry about nutrition, the less healthy we seem to become.

But if real food — the sort of food our great grandmothers would recognize as food — stands in need of defense, from whom does it need defending? From the food industry on one side and nutritional science on the other. Both stand to gain much from widespread confusion about what to eat, a question that for most of human history people have been able to answer without expert help. Yet the professionalization of eating has failed to make Americans healthier. Thirty years of official nutritional advice has only made us sicker and fatter while ruining countless numbers of meals.

Pollan proposes a new (and very old) answer to the question of what we should eat that comes down to seven simple but liberating words: Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants. By urging us to once again eat food, he challenges the prevailing nutrient-by-nutrient approach — what he calls nutritionism — and proposes an alternative way of eating that is informed by the traditions and ecology of real, well-grown, unprocessed food. Our personal health, he argues, cannot be divorced from the health of the food chains of which we are part.

In Defense of Food shows us how, despite the daunting dietary landscape Americans confront in the modern supermarket, we can escape the Western diet and, by doing so, most of the chronic diseases that diet causes. We can relearn which foods are healthy, develop simple ways to moderate our appetites, and return eating to its proper context — out of the car and back to the table. Michael Pollan’s bracing and eloquent manifesto shows us how we can start making thoughtful food choices that will enrich our lives, enlarge our sense of what it means to be healthy, and bring pleasure back to eating.

Pollan’s last book, The Omnivore’s Dilemma, launched a national conversation about the American way of eating; now In Defense of Food shows us how to change it, one meal at a time.

The patient Prof. Kailash Paliwal was tested positive for Hepatitis-B virus. This was diagnosed in Germany. (+919443058440 email: kpecol@yahoo.com ), Professor and Head, Department of Morphology and Algology, School of Biological Sciences, Madurai Kamraj University, Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India, Pin: 625 021.

He was showing super-ultra-alarming levels of increased (tumour marker) Alpha Fetoprotein Serum in blood to the value of 2,98,313_(33,000 times more than the normal value, which is between 1 and 9), (tests undertaken at CHL-Apllo Hospitals, A.B.Road, Indore, M.P., India, Pin: 452 008, on 13-Apr-2007, IPD / OPD No: 30175,
Tel: +917312549090, email: info@chl-apollo.com )

The size of the lesion in the right hepatic lobe, confirmed by CT scan, went up to 10.5 x 8.9 x 8.8 cms.

In March-April 2007 he was practically on death-bed destined and confirmed to die by the then treating doctors, he had been given an approximate life expectancy of 15-20 days only, knowing this he had 2 immediate things in mind, the first one to get his son married in priorty and the date of marriage was scheduled after 3 weeks, the second was to take another opinion about his case. For which he went to TATA Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, but with no result, there also he got the same reply. The whole family was in a state of dilemma whether to enjoy the scheduled marriage or to mourn the last days of the dieing Prof. Paliwal.

After starting on Dr. Tomar’s medicines Prof. Paliwal’s tree of life started growing new buds and sprouts and the whole scenario took a new U-turn. The wedding ceremony took place grandly and Prof. Paliwal started feeling better and energetic, regaining strength, weight, appetite and above all the confidence and the desire to live.

After one month of Homeopathic medicines in May 2007 Prof. Paliwal was on a path to a miraculous recovery from where he never looked back, The Alpha Fetoprotein Serum level had come down to 1,48,000
Another month of treatment, June 2007 started with reduction in the size of the cancerous lesion, Ultra Sonography of the abdomen revealed the large heterogenous mass lesion in the right hepatic lobe reduced to 9.0 x 8.7 x 8.3 cms.

At this stage of treatment Prof. Paliwal had started feeling hilarious, had gained 5 kgs of weight, his Hemoglobin came up to 7.7 g/dl from the previous 6.0 g/dl, his Bilirubin was reduced to 13.27 mg/dl and he was wanting to terminate his never to return leave, that he had taken from Madurai University.

Now feeling fit, but out of place sitting idle here at indore, when he had work pending back in Madurai University, he suddenly started remembering the many students who are doing Ph.D., under his guidance, his counterpart from Germany who was scheduled to arrive in Madurai next month and started feeling the tempo to resume his work.

Seeing him getting restless and impatient to join work again Dr. Tomar allowed him to go back to Madurai after he made a promise to continue with the strict diet and regimen that he was following until now and not to do undue stress and exertion.

Prof. Paliwal joined duties back in Madurai after visiting a conference at New Delhi.

Quick sunburn relief – Sunburn treatment and remedies

Posted by admin on Jun 21, 2009

http://www.howdini.com/howdini-video-7115166.html

Even when we think we’re being careful, sometimes we wind up with a painful sunburn. So what are the best sunburn remedies? Dermatologist and author Dr Doris day shares her tips on how to treat a sunburn, including some home remedies for quick sunburn relief.

How to get quick sunburn relief

If you have a fever or chills, you might have sun poisoning. Skip the home remedies and treatments for sunburns and call your doctor or go to the ER right away.

For quick sunburn relief:
* Take an anti-inflammatory right away, like aspirin or ibuprofen. They will reduce redness and swelling.

* Go inside or somewhere cooler, which will help release the heat from your skin.

* Minimize the pain by adding water back to the skin. Products like hydrocortisone, aloe vera gel, or Solarcaine will help cool off the skin and reduce redness.

If you are shopping for sunburn treatment products:
* Aloe vera from a plant works slightly better than gel, but either one will help.

* Look for products that contain hydrocortisone or mentholated ingredients.

* Take a cool or lukewarm bath with a paste of oatmeal, whole milk, honey, and aloe vera gel. Soak for 15 minutes. It will add moisture back into your skin and prevent peeling.

* If you have a fever or chills, you might have sun poisoning. Call your doctor or go to the ER right away.

* Moisturize your skin as much as possible for the first few days (aloe vera from a plant works great but a gel will also work well).

Home remedies for sunburns:
* Take cool or lukewarm showers. Hot/warm water will irritate the burn and delay healing.

* If you have to go back into the sun, wear protective clothing and apply plenty of sunscreen.
